Rixwell Viru Square Hotel joins Mogotel

Mogotel, the largest hotel operator in the Baltics, continues to expand its presence in the region and on 29 December opened a new hotel in central Tallinn - Rixwell Viru Square (former Baltic Hotel Vana Wiru Tallinn, Viru tänav 11). The hotel building dates from the 20th century. 1950s It has 82 rooms, a lobby bar, a restaurant, a bar and conference rooms. Some rooms have a sauna and hydromassage bath. The hotel is located in one of the city's main squares, Viru Square, at the crossroads of Tallinn's most important streets. Popular sites such as St Olaf's Church and Toompea Castle are just a few minutes' walk away.

Looking at the past year in tourism in Latvia and all the Baltic states, a positive trend should be highlighted - domestic tourism is on the rise. Tourists in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are more likely to stay in local hotels or in accommodation in neighbouring countries than before the pandemic. This stimulates the more active development of tourism infrastructure and an increase in the number of offers. In December 2021, seven Mogotel hotels will be open in Latvia, compared to only two a year ago.

Jeļena Stirna, CEO of Mogotel Hotel Group, gave her forecasts for the growth of the tourism industry in the first quarter of 2022: "With tighter restrictions returning to Europe due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant, the overall number of tourists from Europe will be lower compared to previous months. The number of travellers from the Baltic states and the number of domestic tourists is likely to remain stable. In addition, the overall dynamics will be strongly influenced by the increase in electricity and gas prices in Europe, which will lead to higher prices for tourism services."
